Mobile World Congress 2012 Offers New Opportunities for Auriga

Every year for a few days in February, Barcelona becomes the world’s center of attraction for the leading mobile operators, mobile-device vendors, and content and solutions developers. All of them strive to visit the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the largest exhibition of mobile technology on the planet, accompanied by seminars and conferences. At this event, new products are released and promising technologies are announced, determining the development of the industry in the upcoming year.

This year, the exhibition was more popular than ever. The number of visitors and participants (67,000) exceeded last year’s record by 11%: 1,500 companies represented 205 countries all over the world, and the exhibition was covered by 3,300 journalists. With the aim of getting a few insights into the upcoming trends and harvesting some promising leads, Alexey Rybakov, VP Business Development, and Sergei Kiselev, Director Business Development, Mobile & Wireless, visited the Congress. They shared their impressions of the trip, their objectives, and the results of Auriga’s participation in this massive event:

“Participation in such exhibitions [provides] a unique opportunity for personal meetings with key members of our potential customer base, who are responsible for making strategic decisions on launching new projects.” (Sergey Kiselev)

“All three days of the Congress were filled with intense meetings and presentations, and I can surely declare that the event satisfied our expectations and we have prospective contacts who have a solid base for the development of fruitful cooperation.” (Alexey Rybakov)

According to participants, the most discussed topics at the show were cloud computing, SaaS (software as a service), and word-of-mouth Android platforms. In addition, it was noted that the number of cross-platform solutions is currently growing. Taken together, this data shows that Auriga’s mobile practice is on the right track, as the popularity of this sphere, in which the company has rich experience and skills, suggests that our services will be needed further.

Exhibitors also shared rather curious solutions. For example, Canonical caused a furor with its revolutionary smartphone Ubuntu distribution fully compatible with PC Ubuntu Linux. The distribution is installed on smartphones running Android. When connected to a conventional monitor and keyboard, Ubuntu synchronizes data and runs as a computer system unit, which helps users transfer data quickly and painlessly from one device to another. This reveal was a remarkable example of the exhibition slogan: “Go mobile!” Alexey Rybakov stated the following regarding their involvement in the MWC:

“Summing up our participation in the Mobile World Congress, we can say that our mobile business practice is expecting an active stage of development. All major premises—a pool of customers interested in the mobile products and guided by high demand of users for such applications, and the mobile market supplying us with new devices and technologies—are right here, right now.”

Auriga Makes 2012 Global Outsourcing 100 List for the Fifth Consecutive Year: Uncompromised Excellence Recognized by Independent Judges of IAOP

Woburn, USA – Auriga, a US-based software R&D outsourcing services provider with development centers in Russia, proudly announces that it has been named to the 2012 Global Outsourcing 100 list by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) for the fifth consecutive year since 2008.

Auriga attracted a great deal of recognition in 2011: The company was ranked the No. 1 Engineering Services Outsourcing (ESO) provider worldwide in Datamonitor’s annual Black Book of Outsourcing (BBO) and included in the Global Outsourcing 100 and Global Services 100 lists. It was also featured as one of the fastest growing private companies in America (i.e., it made the Inc. 500|5000 list) by Inc. Magazine. We, at Auriga, strongly believe that this tradition will be carried on in 2012.

Global Outsourcing 100 recognizes the world’s leading outsourcing services providers and covers the full spectrum of outsourcing services. For these rankings, compiled by an independent jury, companies are evaluated based on four critical characteristics: size and growth, customer references, organizational competencies, and management capabilities. The Global Outsourcing 100 list, with its rigorous application and judging process, is an authoritative reference for clients seeking the best outsourcing companies in the industry.

The Global Outsourcing 100 list is one of the very few widely-known and comprehensive studies that gives an objective picture of the leaders of the outsourcing industry. IAOP experts distinguish true value beyond the revenue figures. Our focus on technology, software, and finance companies coupled with our keen insight into their needs, providing the right service for them—based on communications, flexibility, agility and profound technical skills—leads to the highest levels of client satisfaction. And that puts us in the leading group of outsourcing providers, according to IAOP and other industry experts since 2008, alongside with companies that are ten to a thousand times larger than us. —Vyacheslav Vanyulin, General Manager of Auriga

Mobile Banking is on the Rise and Auriga Rides on the Wave

comScore experts, in their recent survey 2011 State of Online and Mobile Banking,” note that in 2011, online and mobile banking in the US experienced substantial growth. At present, roughly 66% of US citizens pay their bills via the Internet, and 16% of mobile users report using their devices to access financial information, a percentage that is only likely to grow as consumers become more accustomed to using their mobile and tablet devices to perform banking transactions. The growth rate of mobile banking customers now stands stable at about 30% per year. Online banking volumes across the top 10 banks grew to more than 65 million liquid deposit account (LDA) customers, which include users of checking, savings, and money market accounts (excluding certificates of deposit).

Juniper Research experts reported mobile services becoming a fundamental component of banks’ business strategies as they respond to the current financial crisis. It’s expected that mobile banking users worldwide will reach 530 million by 2013, up from just over 300 million in 2011. The most prospective regions for further growth are North America, Eastern Europe, Southeastern Asia, and China.

Russian market holds the ground: Top Russian bank, Sberbank Rossii, reported the fourfold growth of its on-line operations in 2011 in comparison to 2010. A CNews analytical survey on remote banking services, conducted in August 2011, shows that this segment of the market is apparently experiencing an upsurge.

For several years, Auriga has been working with Russian Sberbank, Barclays, and several other leading Russian and international banks we cannot name here. We provide Automated Banking System integration, customization, and maintenance services for such systems as Oracle FlexCube and Diasoft, and we have developed a number of our own specialized solutions for financial institutions.

To stay ahead of the changing market, Auriga engineers developed a comprehensive mobile banking application for customers to manage their bank accounts, transactions, and payments. The application was created in close cooperation with banking analysts and experts. It combines the best practices of our core service lines—financial and mobile development. The app is targeted at iOS, Android, Windows Phone 7, RIM (Blackberry), and Bada platforms, and it follows the stringent security standards of private personal and banking information.

The mobile banking app possesses the following functionality:

  • ability to make all types of transactions (i.e., between users’ accounts, intrabank and interbank transactions, SWIFT transactions in different currencies, as well as payments to various service providers)
  • ability to display information related on card operations and view card and account statements
  • security module, including user authorization, permissions check, PIN code check, access lock, and secure storage for important (but not personal or payment) data (e.g., phone directory, messages, etc.) The module monitors suspicious activity and blocks access according to pre-defined rules

The application was presented at the Moscow iFin-2012 International Forum, and it kindled the interest of several Russian banks. Auriga encourages you to try the application by downloading the demo at our website. Russian-speaking subscribers should use the following link.
