Mobile World Congress 2015: Setting Trends for the Year

Every year, Auriga visits Barcelona, the mobile world capital that hosts the world’s premier event for leading mobile operators, mobile device manufacturers, software companies, and equipment providers—the Mobile World Congress (MWC). In its tenth year, the MWC, which took place March 2–5 in Fira Gran Via, welcomed more than 93,000 visitors from 200 countries—a record-breaking number for the event. More than 50% of the attendees were C-level executives, including 5,000+ CEOs.

MWC2015Over 2,000 companies presented innovative products, the latest devices, and cutting-edge services, technologies, and apps, setting trends for the industry in the upcoming year. In the last few years, the mobile industry has advanced significantly. Internet of Things, M2M, mHealth, smart cars, etc. are not just buzzwords and phrases anymore. They represent a new wave in the development of the Internet and mobile ecosystem.

One of the main highlights of the event was the GSMA Innovation City, which demonstrated the potential impact of mobile-connected products and services on the day-to-day lives of people in a real-world city environment.

This year, the MWC mainly focused on mobile security, mobile payments, virtual reality, wearables, and Internet of Things. These are primary areas of interest for Auriga: In the last few years, our company has made this line of development one of our priorities and gained significant experience in the areas of mHealth, connected cars, interoperability, wearable technologies, mobile security and banking, etc.

Auriga was represented at the MWC by Sales Director Marc Schlackman who shared his views on the event:

“It might be hard to believe, but Mobile World Congress 2015 had more exhibitors and attendees than the previous year. In fact, they added an additional hall this year. Wearable technologies were front and center and could be seen throughout the show floor. Exhibitors demonstrating robots/androids emerged this year with promises of handling real-life applications. Attending the MWC enabled Auriga to learn about mobile trends and technologies, meet new companies, as well as continue discussions with contacts made at last year’s show. Time spent at the MWC is invaluable, and I look forward to attending each year—although my feet might disagree.”
