Auriga Welcomes Initiatives to Foster Russian-German Cooperation in IT

AMHERST, NH - Auriga Inc., an Amherst-based IT consultancy with a well-established software engineering operation in Russia, participated in the Second German-Russian ICT Forum held on March 14 in Hannover, Germany within the framework of CeBIT 2003. Sergei Riabov, Director of Business Development at Auriga, addressed the participants of the Forum as one of the keynote speakers. In his speech Sergei Riabov highlighted benefits of offshore IT outsourcing as an effective strategy for German high-tech companies that would enable them to win new business under the sluggish economic conditions by providing strong competitive advantages.

The annual CeBIT exhibition, the world's biggest and most essential tradeshow for information and telecommunications technology, has frequently been an ideal location to present experiences and the opportunities for Russia-Germany business cooperation. The German-Russian ICT Forumcontinued this trend. The forum was organized by BITKOM (Germany) and RUSSOFT (Russia) IT associations, which signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the First Russian-German ICT Symposium. The First Symposium was held in the framework of the InfoCom 2002 Exhibition on October 22-23, 2002, under the umbrella of the Ministry for Communications and Informatization of the Russian Federation in Moscow.

The main goal of the Second Symposium was to deepen cooperation between German and Russian ICT companies. The Forum aimed to share experience and extend cooperation in specific ICT areas such as E-Government, Electronic & Mobile Business, and Software Outsourcing.

"Auriga welcomes the initiatives of strengthening Russian-German close collaboration in IT. Our Software Development Center in Russia has a solid track record for successful software development and maintenance projects for Western clients and we are firmly convinced that as an offshore IT outsourcing partner, Russia has several unique advantages," said Sergei Riabov. "Combined with Russia’s pool of IT talent, a good legacy in the science and technology fields, a strong educational system, and a maturing IT industry, Russia has a strong potential to become Germany’s strategic partner in offshore IT outsourcing."

Representatives of the leading Russian and German ICT companies together with experts, analysts and consultants discussed the competitive advantages of the German-Russian cooperation in high-tech projects, ICT security and the growth potential in this market.

"The ICT Forum will mark a change in the nature of cooperation between Germany and Russia – from a maintenance performer to a solution provider," said Dr. Bernhard Rohleder, Director General of BITKOM.
