Outsourcing Industry Experts Gathered in the City of the Eternal Spring

At the end of July, 450 participants—renowned experts in the world of outsourcing; CEOs from Fortune 500, Forbes 2000, and IAOP 100 lists; power officials; politicians; economists; and scientists—from 48 countries gathered for the fifth Global Outsourcing Summit (GOS) in Kunming, China, the city of the eternal spring.

Dr. Alexis Sukharev, Auriga’s president and founder, took part in the event along with representatives from such large companies as Microsoft, Intel, Dell, Oracle, HP, and others.

Once again, the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) acted as an official partner of the event.

The GOS is one of the most significant events aimed at researching the status quo and exploring the development laws of global outsourcing. In light of the steady growth of global outsourcing markets, events of this level are becoming increasingly important.

Gartner forecasts a 4.4% CAGR and $443 billion market size for outsourcing industry by 2015.

In this regard, the interest of the public, government, and business in strengthening collaboration and cooperation in developing global outsourcing and increasing the roles and enhancing the recognition of the countries and providers with an outsourcing focus is quite understandable. The fifth GOS addressed these particular challenges.

The extended agenda of the summit included a visit to the hi-tech development zone in Kunming and meetings with government officials of Kunming and Yunnan Province.

At the grand opening reception, Alexis Sukharev addressed the hosts on behalf of all guests. He emphasized the significant role of the summit and focused on the prospects of cooperation between China and Russia in the area of outsourcing when gaining access to the European and US markets.

Chinese officials opened the summit on Saturday, July 28, with welcome speeches from Qiu Hong, Assistant Minister of Commerce (China); Wei Jianguo, Secretary-General of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (China); John Winston Howard, Global Co-Chairman of APCEO; the former Prime Minister of Australia; and other famous politicians.

Auriga’s president, one of the keynote speakers, gave a speech on opportunities for IT outsourcing cooperation between China, the USA, and Russia. He focused on a description of the current situation in the outsourcing industry and identified the existing cooperation opportunities for Russia and China.

Summarizing the results of the summit, Alexis Sukharev noted the high professionalism of the event’s organizers and the topical agenda:

Events of such a level allow us to get a clear idea about the situation in the industry, to outline development paths and find new partners. For example, Auriga has been developing a strong partnership with Chinese companies since the third GOS back in 2009.”
