Auriga’s Testers Receive ISTQB Certification

A few of Auriga’s testing professionals passed the ISTQB® (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) exam and received an ISTQB® certificate. Currently, six more engineers are preparing for the ISTQB® Certified Tester exam.

The ISTQB®, founded in 2002, is an international organization promoting the value of software testing processes and regulating the content of certification programs and exams. Today, the ISTQB® Certified Tester program, consisting of three levels (Foundation, Advanced, and Expert), is one of the most popular certification programs for testing professionals. Over 350,000 testing experts from all over the world have already received certificates. This program is designed to provide quality knowledge to software testing professionals and to harmonize their knowledge and skills.

Capers Jones, president of Software Productivity Research and a renowned expert on software metrics, estimated that software testing done by certified specialists on average increases project productivity by 7%.

Factor Impact on Productivity
Experienced test teams 12% Improvement
Testing by certified test personnel 7% Improvement
Testing by developers only 6%  Worsening
Informal test case design 8%  Worsening
Inexperienced test teams 15%  Worsening
Truncating testing to “meet schedule” 45% Worsening

Auriga has always paid careful attention to the quality of developed solutions. The company’s experts have gained significant experience in product testing and QA for medical equipment and avionics systems, domains where quality is often life critical. Our experts have also provided testing services as a part of ISO 13485, IEC 62304, and DO-178B Level A compliant projects with strict requirements for products’ safety and reliability.

Moreover, Auriga’s employees took part in the development of the professional standard for testing specialists within the frame of the federal program designed to create and update professional standards for the Russian postsecondary education system.

The increase in the number of certified testing professionals will allow us to provide our customers with an even higher level of software reliability and increase the productivity and efficiency of our projects.

According to Elena Baranova, Auriga’s Director of Engineering,

Unfortunately, Russian universities today do not have academic curriculums focused on the needs and requirements of software testing professionals. Preparation for the ISTQB® certification exam gives engineers the chance to organize the information and knowledge they receive while performing testing projects.

Having certified testing specialists in the company will certainly increase our reliability and quality as well as help us win over potential customers. That is why we plan to continue encouraging our engineers to receive the professional certification.
